Finally My First Post (Sorry)

So here I am at work, bored for the time being, and I had this thought "You haven't posted anything on the blog yet."  So here I am.  It is old news, at least some of it, because my wife has been so great at posting things.  As you all know I have been spending the last week or so building a new computer that I ordered from Newegg.com.  I will tell you, for a computer person, that website is awesome!  Anyway, so I ended up buying basically a new computer.  I'll list the components for you computer nerds like me:
AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Eight Core Processor
     G-Skill Sniper Series 8GB DDR3 1866 RAM
     ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Motherboard
OCZ Agility 3 120GB SATA III Solid State Drive
Corsair Carbide Series 400R Graphite Grey and Black ATX Case
So here is how I set this puppy up.  Previously I had 2 80GB Western Digital hard drives and 1 250GB Seagate drive.  So I installed my operating system on the 120GB solid state drive, during the install I moved the User profile and program data directories over to my E: drive which consists of the 2 80GB drives striped together, and then I set up my 250GB drive as a backup for all of it (obviously not everything is backed up 120+80+80=280 not 250).  My boot time is now under 15 seconds.  I will post a video later to show how fast that boot really is.  Loading screens on my games take only seconds because any programs that I install are installed to the solid state drive.  Posted with this is a picture of the machine.
As you can see it is actually pretty clean inside the computer. That is part of the reason why I bought the Corsair 400R case. It makes putting a PC together super easy, and makes it super clean inside. Hope you all have enjoyed this computer moment with me.

Now on to life.  Something funny happened the other day while I was at work.  My sweet wife made me a one of my favorite kinds of sandwiches, a PB&J sandwich (yeah, I'm a pretty simple guy when it comes to food).  I was looking forward to eating that sandwich, so I did like I do whenever I eat meals.  I save my favorite part for the end.  Well when I pulled it out of the bag and took a couple of bites, this is what I saw:
Well I really love PB&J, but this was a bit too much PB.  I couldn't even swallow.  I had to down a whole cup of water with this puppy.  Later on when talking with Joslyn, I found out that she put on that much PB because when she has made them for other people in the past she was criticized because she didn't put enough on.  So, she wanted to make sure it was perfect for me.  I love my wife, she is so good to me :)  We also found that day that we have the same taste, because she doesn't like a ton of PB on her PB&J sandwiches either.  Hope you have enjoyed my first post :)

Wedding!

When my favorite cousin Deanna began her work as a photographer I was so excited to have her do my wedding.  I was sad when she moved to Kansas and thought that was that, but to my great surprise when we called and asked her to do my wedding she jumped at the chance!  She flew in with her newborn baby to shoot my reception and wedding day.  She is very talented and between her and her sister Dana who did my hair and make-up for the reception we had a beautiful wedding!

Here's a link to the highlights of the day!

Sick and computers

This morning started with terrible stomach pains, headaches, and dizziness.
I knew I needed to eat something but as I poured my cereal I almost blacked out.   Nate fetched me my cereal and asked if I needed him to stay home. I said no, I'll be fine after I eat something and told him to go.
At 10:30 I texted him to please come home. I was still sick, we had nothing for stomach pain and standing up made me light headed. I wasn't able to eat cause I couldn't reach the fridge and my stomach felt like a wild animal was burrowing into it.

Nate showed up with tums, sprite and saltines and to his luck the new parts to his computer has arrived.  Now I'm laying on the couch sipping sprite and munching crackers. And he's setting up his computer next to me.
Win win (sorta)

Curtains and Pillows

Joslyn here,

Voila! I've finally posted the curtains and pillows I promised photos of! The three throw pillows on the front were made from the left over fabric from the curtains. Very easy to do and oh-so-soft!

Notice the close up of the pattern of the fabric, doesn't it match the bedspread perfectly?!

The room was feeling very monochromatic so I added the touches of blue in a pillow and with light ribbons holding the curtains open.

Happy New Computer Day!

Joslyn here,

Nate ordered some stuff to make our computer super fast and better (and I'm sure he will explain it all much better than I) and he's been so excited for when it was to be delivered. He instructed me to not leave the house in case the mailman came and we weren't there to accept it and had to go find it at the post office. He had been talking about it for days so I really didn't want to mess it up and I sat in the living room from 7:00 am to 11:00 am checking the doorstep every hour and getting up to look outside any time I heard a sound. At about 11:20 I got a knock on the door and voila! A package for Nate!

Relieved and jazzed that I could finally leave the house and go to the store for a roll of quarters to do laundry, I took a few extra dollars and decided to really make this day special for Nate. I bought balloons and a chocolate cake mix and wrote Happy New Computer Day! and Happy Nerd-Day! on the balloons and taped them all over the walls. I also made a home-made pizza.

When he got home he was really excited and tore open that package like it was a present on Christmas. He then spent 6-7 hours working on the computer. I was able to pull him away a couple times for pizza and cake but other than that he worked on that thing from 4:00-11:30.

Silly Nate :)  In the meantime I sewed curtains and pillows!  Pictures to come. :)

Engagement Photos-Headboard

Joslyn here,

So we have about a dozen photos left over from the reception and we've yet to get a headboard for our bed, so I took matters into my own hands and created a focal point in our room.

HOW TO

-Take a flash-drive with the photos of your choice to STAPLES and have it printed at the architectural size for $5.

-Cut pieces of Foam Core to the appropriate size using an exacto blade or similar tool (Foam Core can be found in various stores such as Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and Michaels).

-Use 3M Spray Mount to adhere the picture to the board (watch out for wrinkles and bubbles)

-Use Command Adhesive strips to mount the photos onto the wall. No holes (Nate loves that) and you only need one strip per board!
